Wesbeam Partners with Supa Group to Support Better Building

Partnerships Residential Innovation

Partnership means more than supplying timber. It means working alongside builders to understand their business, support their projects and find opportunities to improve the way they build.

That was the clear message following Supa Group’s recent visit to Wesbeam’s Neerabup manufacturing facility. The visit formed part of the exclusive supply agreement between the two businesses and gave the Supa Group team a firsthand look at how Wesbeam manufactures, quality-controls and supports its locally made LVL and LVL I-joist products from production through to project delivery.

For the Supa Group team, one of the strongest takeaways from the visit was the confidence it created in Wesbeam’s product and people. Neil Gardiner, Director at Supa Group, said the visit left him with a strong impression of “great company culture and confidence in all aspects of your product.”

That culture was evident across the site. from senior leaders through to the mill floor. “Everyone was friendly, understood their role and was committed to the business,” he said.

The Supa Group team was also impressed by the scale and efficiency of the facility. Matt Howard, Director of Building at Supa Group, noted the “high levels of efficiency achieved with relatively few people on the factory floor,” as well as Wesbeam’s focus on producing a consistent, high-quality product from a naturally variable raw material.

Seeing that process firsthand reinforced the value of local manufacturing, rigorous quality control and continuous improvement. Matt said the visit highlighted the importance of consistency and the potential risks of relying on imported alternatives, strengthening Supa Group’s confidence in specifying and using Wesbeam products across its projects.

The partnership also extends beyond the supply of LVL. Wesbeam’s Engineering and Design Centre works with builders to support beam layouts, identify efficiencies and provide practical assistance that helps builders improve outcomes across their projects.

For Matt, that support is a key part of the relationship. “We are a relationships-based business and I walked away feeling very positive,” he said. “We are appreciative of the support we get with assistance in beam layouts and efficiencies we can make in our own process, which is a significant value beyond just the product itself.”

It is this combination of locally manufactured engineered timber, technical expertise and collaboration that underpins Wesbeam’s approach to partnerships.
