e-joist

Floor Joists & Rafters

e-joist is an Australian-made I-joist engineered for lighter, straighter and smarter floor systems. Manufactured with Wesbeam LVL flanges and an OSB web, it delivers strength, consistency and dimensional stability for floor joists, rafters and structural systems.

Designed as part of Wesbeam’s integrated system approach, e-joist supports efficient design, easier handling and faster installation on site. Its lightweight I-shaped profile helps reduce structural weight while maintaining reliable performance for residential and commercial projects.

AUSTRALIAN PREMIER I-JOIST

Wesbeam's blue e-joist is the premier Australian-made e-joist, engineered to give you trusted confidence in every floor, roof and wall system you build.

e-joist combines LVL flanges with an oriented strand board (OSB) web to create a lightweight, straight and strong engineered member. It provides a similar structural role to solid timber members while using material efficiently and allowing service integration through the web where permitted by the design guide.

Wesbeam's Design Centre uses e-joist as part of optimised floor and roof system take-offs, helping builders improve installation accuracy, reduce rework and achieve efficient structural outcomes.

Where it is used

  • Floor joists in residential and multi-residential construction

  • Rafters where designed and documented for the application

  • Townhouse and medium-density floor systems

  • Projects requiring service penetrations through an engineered joist web

  • Complete floor systems with e-beam and compatible connectors

Performance benefits

  • Lightweight handling: Reduced member weight supports safer, more efficient installation.

  • Straightness: Engineered consistency helps improve set-out, alignment and final floor performance.

  • Service integration: Web penetrations can be designed and cut in accordance with Wesbeam guides.

  • Design optimisation: Works with Wesbeam's Design Centre to reduce unnecessary steel and improve buildability.

e-joist provides engineered straightness, strength, reduced weight and efficient material use, supporting faster and more predictable floor construction.

Wesbeam's Structural Engineering + Design Division provides floor design and quote support for Wesbeam customers.

e-joist is Wesbeam’s brand name for its LVL I-joist product. e-joist is a registered trademark of Wesbeam and is an engineered timber I-joist designed for use in floor and roof systems.

I-joists have a higher strength-to-weight ratio compared with heavier, solid timber beams. They are engineered for long-span floor joists and rafters as part of a closely spaced, parallel joist system. I-joists also offer greater straightness and the ability to cut large service penetrations through the structural web. This makes them the ideal choice for floor and roof construction.
